Merge on a wooden board

Blocky Merge tells you the rule on the board itself: drag and merge the same blocks. Numbered tiles arrive in a tray at the bottom of a six-wide wooden grid, and you place them where matching values will combine into their double.

Score and highscore sit at the top, and levels progress as you go. It is the same family as Merge The Numbers with a heavier, slower feel.

Six columns is narrow

• With only six columns, a badly placed high number blocks a sixth of the board. Decide the column before you pick the tile up.
• Build vertically. Columns are the natural chain direction on a narrow grid, and a merge that cascades down a column clears far more than one that spreads sideways.
• Keep the leftmost or rightmost column for your largest tile and never drop a small number on it.

Reading the tray

The tray shows what is coming, so treat it as part of the board. If the next tile pairs with something already placed, leave that spot open now rather than filling it and regretting it.

Most lost boards here are the right tile placed one turn too early.
