Hexagons, not tubes

Bee Sort By Sam is the odd one out on this list. Instead of pouring between tubes you place hexagonal honeycomb tiles onto a hex grid, working towards a target — 0/50 on the first level — with a bee presiding over it.

It is closer to a hex block puzzle than to a sort puzzle, and the skill it asks for is spatial rather than sequential.

Playing on a hex grid

• Hexagons have six neighbours, not four. A piece that looks awkward often fits in a direction you did not consider.
• Lines on a hex grid run three ways rather than two. Check all three before deciding a piece has nowhere to go.
• Fill from the edges inward. The centre of a hex grid is the hardest place to reach once it is surrounded.

Reaching the target

The counter is the level goal, so the question is never just "does this fit" but "does this get me closer to the number". A placement that fits and clears nothing is usually the wrong one.

Keep the open space connected. Scattered single cells on a hex grid are even less useful than on a square one, because so few pieces are one cell wide.
